Step-by-Step: How to Download Ledger Live

Step 1: Choose Your Platform

Ledger Live is available on:

Make sure you download it only from the official Ledger website or official app stores.

Step 2: Start the Download

  • For desktop: Download the .exe, .dmg, or .AppImage installer for your OS.

  • For mobile: Search “Ledger Live” on your device’s app store.

Installing Ledger Live

Once downloaded:

  • Desktop: Open the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions

  • Mobile: Install the app like any other from the app store

When installed, open Ledger Live. You’ll be greeted with a welcome screen.

Click “Get Started” to begin.

Setting Up Your Ledger Device (If New)

If you have a new Ledger device:

  1. Select “Set up a new device”

  2. On the device, choose a PIN

  3. Write down your 24-word recovery phrase on the provided sheet

  4. Confirm the phrase on the device

  5. Finish setup in the Ledger Live app

🛑 Do not take a photo or type your recovery phrase into your phone or computer. Store it safely offline.

Already have a Ledger? Choose “Connect your device” or “Restore from recovery phrase.”

App Manager and Coin Apps

Before you can manage coins, you need to install blockchain apps:

  1. In Ledger Live, go to Manager

  2. Connect and unlock your Ledger

  3. Install apps like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, etc.

  4. Wait for confirmation

Each app allows your device to interact with a specific blockchain.

Add Crypto Accounts

After installing coin apps:

  1. Go to Accounts in Ledger Live

  2. Click “Add Account”

  3. Choose the coin and connect your device

  4. The account appears in your dashboard

Now you're ready to send, receive, and track your crypto.

Receiving Crypto

  1. Open an account (e.g., Ethereum)

  2. Click Receive

  3. Connect and unlock your device

  4. Verify the address shown on your device matches the one in the app

  5. Use that address to receive crypto

Always verify the address on your Ledger screen, not just your computer.
